About the Procedure

The LASIK Procedure LASIK is a fast procedure only taking 3 minutes per eye and completed in just 6 minutes. The procedure is painless as topical anesthetic numbing drops are instilled in the eyes before to make the procedure comfortable. The first step involves making a cornea flap theat preserve the outer epithelail skin layer with a machine called a mickrokeratome. With the preservation of the epithelial skin layer allows one to see clearly by the next day. The flap step is quick only 10 seconds. After the flap is created it is lifted to expose the underlying inner cornea stroma laser to which the laser is applied. The Laser vision treatment involve the use of a laser to permanently change the shape of the cornea, the crystal-clear covering of the front of the eye. By adjusting the curvature of the cornea, laser vision correction can improve the eye’s ability to focus, allowing many patients to see clearly without glasses or contact lenses. When the procedure is completed, the flap is replaced in its normal position over the new corneal curvature and allowed to heal on its own. The majority of our LASIK eye surgery patients, many of whom come from areas such as Manhattan, Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Wilkes-Barre, notice a dramatic improvement in their vision immediately after the procedure. Most are even able to return to full activity, including driving, the day after surgery.
